08/29/2011 - Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series Returns To Bayfair

The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series will roar into Mission Bay Sept. 16-18 for the San Diego Bayfair festival, marking the high-profile tour’s only national stop in California.

The series, which features some of the fastest, adrenaline-filled boats on the water, has been a mainstay at Bayfair since the mid-1990s. But due to a scheduling conflict in 2010, the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series was unable to participate at San Diego Bayfair.

“We’re ecstatic to have the ‘roar’ back on Crown Point,” said Jeff Thomas, chairman of the Bayfair Board of Directors. “The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series has an incredibly passionate fan base. Their fans love to see, feel and hear these fast boats.”

“Our racers are very excited to be coming back to San Diego,” said Ken Dollar, series director for the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series. “The drivers love the water on Mission Bay. It’s considered some of the fastest in the country. And with so many drag-boat racing fans in Southern California, it’s going to be a great event.”

Billed as extreme sport of extreme sports, the series’ Top Fuel Hydros are running 260 mph on a quarter-mile course. As the drivers will attest, there is a fine line between winning the race and crashing. About 90 boats will be competing Friday, Saturday and Sunday in 11 classes including sportsman, PWC and professional. In addition to the racing action, fans can meet the drivers and watch the boats being prepared for competition.

Lucas Oil Drag Boat

And fans who want to be around the action day and night during Bayfair can rent RV spaces on Crown Point. Spots are available for less than $600, which includes four nights and five days. Tickets are all-inclusive this year, so race fans who purchase tickets to see the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series at Bayfair will also be able to check out racing action from Ski Beach and Fiesta Island.

Crown Point, just like Ski Beach, will feature beer gardens, food and vendor booths, and fun midway games for children—and even adults.

“This is a great opportunity for families to plan a weekend vacation in San Diego to be part of the fun,” Thomas said. “Families will take home some great memories from San Diego Bayfair.”

5/24/2011 - Dart Machinery Extends Sponsorship Of Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series Into 2011

DARTProduct Contingency Vouchers Available For 2011

Lucas Oil is proud to announce that Dart Machinery has extended its partnership with the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series for 2011.

Under the 2011 agreement, Dart will award $100.00 toward the purchase of its products for each LODBRS class winner at all LODBRS National events. To qualify for the product contingency, the participant must display the Dart decals on both sides of the boat.

Dart Machinery was one of the first sponsors to jump on board with the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series in 2010, and has been a long time partner within the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series under the Team Lucas umbrella. The addition of the drag boat industry has proved to be a profitable marketing strategy for Dart. Ted Keating, General Manager of Dart Machinery stated recently, "Dart Machinery has a long history with Lucas Oil. We've worked with Lucas in the past both as a series sponsor and to offer contingencies to a multitude of racers. By working together over the years, we have been able to help great racing series' thrive and to support racers and engine builders that are the foundation of the motorsports industry.

Lucas Oil and Dart Machinery are similar in that they both derived from humble beginnings, and their mutual support of the grass roots racer is equally important to them. Dart Machinery founder, Richard Maskin, is well known to drag racing fans as a mechanical mastermind whose engines have won NHRA Pro Stock championships and dozens of national events. Like many successful entrepreneurs, Maskin turned his passion for drag racing into a thriving enterprise. Beginning with a dream, a desk and a telephone in a two car garage twenty five years ago, Dart is now the acknowledged leader in aftermarket components for racing engines. Likewise, Lucas Oil Products was founded by Forrest Lucas and his wife Charlotte in 1989 when they experienced firsthand the need for better lubricants and fuel treatments to maintain their own trucking fleet, where Forest was also a truck driver. Having long been directly involved in the American racing industry through multiple vehicle sponsorships and racing event promotions at all levels, the couple saw a need for better lubricants in this industry as well, so they went to work again, the end result being a line of high performance engine oils and gear oils that are second-to-none in the racing industry. Like Dart Machinery, the Lucas success story has been built upon hard work, an unparalleled line of premium products and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. That is why the two companies are such a perfect match.

5/11/2011 - Lucas Oil Joins With R&R Racing As A 2011 Contingency Sponsor

Lucas Oil is pleased to announce that R&R Racing Products has agreed to come on board as a cash contingency sponsor of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Series and Pro Pulling League.

Jules and Mike Riechers first opened as a general machine shop in 1984. In 1985, they added an automotive machine shop that transitioned into manufacturing specialty racing parts, including R&R Racing Products, now famous for their Pro-series billet connecting rods. By 1995, R&R's connecting rod business took over and the general and automotive portion of the machine shop was downsized. R&R began manufacturing oil pumps in 1999 and billet steel connecting rods in 2005.

From their line of billet aluminum connecting rods or billet steel connecting rods to their line of dry sump oiling systems, R&R Racing Products are made in their facility and built to customer specifications. Custom connecting rods can be made in as little as a few days time, and oil pumps usually ship within a day or two, minimizing the chance of missing a race while waiting on parts.

R&R co-owner Mike Reichers stated, "As a retired boat racer, I am glad to be a part of the drag boat family again, this time as a contingency sponsor rather than a driver. The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Series should be a great way to connect our line of rods to a direct target market."

The sponsorship agreement includes cash contingencies in the amount of $125.00 paid to the 1st Place winners of each class and $75.00 to LUCAS OIL JOINS WITH R&R RACING AS A 2011 CONTINGENCY SPONSOR the runner-up winners. 01/7/2011 - Lucas Oil Drag boat Racing Series Adds New Sanctioning Body

Lucas Oil is proud to announce the addition of the Arizona Drag Boat Association (ADBA) to its growing list of sanctioning members. The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series will now include four race events on the lake at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona as co-sanctioned National and/or Divisional events with the ADBA in 2011 and beyond.

The Arizona Drag Boat Association will offer "grass roots" drag boat racers the opportunity to compete in closed course sanctioned races in the State of Arizona.

The ADBA's first two events, scheduled for March 11-13 and April 15-17, 2011 will be ADBA / LODBRS Divisional points events while the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series season opener scheduled for May 27-29 and the World Finals on November 17-20 will be LODBRS National events as well as points races under the ADBA banner.

ADBA rescue personnel will be trained by LODBRS' Jimmy Todd and Tech Director Henry Sarandria will train its Technical Inspectors. Rules and race programs which ADBA governs will be consistent with LODBRS rules, and members in good standing from other LODBRS organizations will also be welcomed to participate at its events.

The ADBA's initial slate of officers include Jeremy Denny, President; Bob Prigmore, Vice- President; Barbara Kunkle, Secretary and Scott Sayles, Treasurer, and will also be governed by a seven-member Board of Directors.
